If you are one of the people who wonder What is Summer Work and Travel? It is a program created by the United States Department of Labor and the North American Embassy with the intention of uniting cultures.
This is a program that is not only active in the Dominican Republic, but other countries also have the opportunity to benefit and be part of this experience in a period of 4 months, May-September, summer period.
Work contracts generally begin between May 5 and 10 and end to return to the country between September 10 and 17, a prudent time to continue with university studies.
This program is aimed at university students who, in their summer time, can dedicate those 4 months to obtain work and cultural experience in the US and when they return they can continue focusing on their studies.
As a student you can preselect a company from which they are in the job offers, it depends on the employer to choose you or not and this is subject to the profile you have, which fits the needs of your employer.
One of the objectives of this program is for the student to be able to enrich their English language during their 4-month stay in the United States.
How to enter the program?
- Be an active university student. (in each quarter or semester take more than 12 credits)
- Be between 18 and 26 years old.
- Have basic command of English.
- Not be in any other residency process (request process by a family member with the intention of going to live in the United States at a certain time).
How to Apply to this year's Summer work.
The way to apply is through an interview and when attending the interview you must bring:
- Copy of ID.
- Copy of class schedule.
- Have made payment for the right to interview.
