Santo Domingo. DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. December 12, 2022.- More than four thousand young Dominicans are now preparing to go to work and get to know American culture in the Summer Work and Travel Bridge USA 2023 program led by the largest cultural exchange agency in the world. , Ace International.

Seven hundred of these young people participated today in the job fair that took place at the Jaragua hotel, considered the largest in the world in cultural exchange programs, where they met their employers in the United States, including chains such as Publix and Hard Rock.

“The Summer Work and Travel Bridge USA program was created in 1961 by the United States Department of State, with the goal that active college students from around the world could benefit from the experience of living and working in the United States for a maximum period of 4 months, at the same time, strengthen knowledge of the English language and most importantly, the exchange between cultures, since some 250,000 students from all over the world participate in the program annually,” explained Ace International manager, Ramón Tavárez.

The program has been developed in states such as Florida, South Carolina, Alabama and others, since the beginning of the summer, where Dominican university students live with young people from other countries, improve their level of English, learn about other cultures, visit other cities and expand their professional profile while developing their independence, since they manage their time, budget and responsibilities during these 4 months.

For his part, the manager of Ace International in Santiago, Rafael Martínez Then, explained that Ace's work as an agency began in 2007, and since then more than 20,000 students have participated. “In this in-person fair we have 700 young people, but during this year more than 3,000 have already participated in virtual fairs and interviewed with employers, and they all have summer jobs guaranteed for 2023,” revealed the manager of Ace in Santiago.

To apply for the program, young people must be active full-time university students, have a minimum intermediate command of the English language, that is, they must be able to maintain a brief conversation in that language and be between 18 and 28 years old.

Ace International provides guidance and follow-up to participants in the process before the United States Consulate in the Dominican Republic for the J1 visa, which is issued exclusively for this purpose. The agency also manages employment, housing and emergency medical insurance for students during their stay in the United States.
